Photo of Threave Garden and the house

Threave Garden

Great National Trust for Scotland site, amazing gardens which are open all year round. The site also has a great cafe we would recommend for lunch and also offers the chance to see Osprey nesting in the wild.

A traditional gate stands proudly amidst the breathtaking Scottish landscape, its weathered wooden frame a timeless symbol of entry into the majestic wilderness beyond, where rolling hills, lush greenery, and rugged beauty await exploration and discovery

Walking

If walking is your thing then there are lots of options right from your door, with so many options we have attached a separate walking guild which you will find in the lodge and the end of this page.

Beaches

Being so close to the coast there are some great beaches in the local area which can be enjoyed all year round.

Our favourite three: Carrick, Sandgreen, Mossyard which are all within 5 miles of the lodge.

At Carrick Beach, laughter dances on the breeze as children play joyfully in the sparkling sea. Against the backdrop of sun-kissed sands and azure waters, their carefree spirits illuminate the scene with boundless energy and pure delight. With each splash and giggle, they create cherished memories against the backdrop of nature's grandeur. Carrick Beach, with its pristine beauty and endless horizons, serves as the perfect playground for these moments of uninhibited joy. Here, amidst the soothing rhythm of the waves and the warm embrace of the sun, every splash becomes a testament to the magic of childhood and the timeless allure of the sea.

Online delivery

Don’t know about you but we love when we are going away to book an online food delivery to be delivered around the same time as we get there, all of the main retailers deliver to the area but we find Tesco has the most slots. We would also recommend trying to book at least a week in advance as they do get booked up quickly in the supplier months.

Nearest Charging point

We now offer limited charging onsite which you can book with us directly before you book. On top of this there are electric car charging points located at Gatehouse Of Fleet Public Car Park, DG7 2HP which is part of the ChargePlace Scotland EV charging network. There are 8 devices and 16 connectors available at this charging location.

The best way to search and explore the public charge points in and around DG7 2HP, see live status data, plan you route and see EV community updates is to use the charging point map on desktop or download the Zap-Map app.
