Accessibility at Gatehouse Luxury Lodges

Getting to your lodge
The parking area is gravel. From there, a level, paved path leads to each lodge door. There's a small lip onto the outside decking, and we can provide a ramp for this on request, so just let us know in advance.
Inside the lodge
Hard flooring throughout, with wide hallways and open-plan living for easy movement. Bedrooms are all on the ground floor. Internal doors are standard width 75cm. The external door is wider than the internal doors its 100cm.

Bathroom
Walk-in shower, 140cm x 78cm, with a low threshold of 1.5cm. The shower has a fixed glass screen rather than a curtain, so if you need a carer with you in the shower, they'd need to step in alongside rather than assist from outside, worth bearing in mind. Shower seat available on request, just let us know in advance. Standard height toilet, with limited transfer space to either side.
Accessibility Features in Our Lodges
We’ve designed our lodges with comfort and ease of movement in mind. My partner Lottie is a qualified Occupational Therapist with 27 years of experience in hospitals and the local community, and her input has shaped a number of the details above. We want to be upfront: we’re not a specialist accessible or care property, and we don’t have hoists or nursing equipment. What we do have is a set of genuinely useful features, and a good number of guests with mobility needs and wheelchair users have stayed with us and had a comfortable time.
- Level, paved path from parking to each lodge door (parking area itself is gravel)
- Ramp available on request for the small lip onto the decking
- Hard flooring throughout, wide hallways, ground-floor bedrooms
- Walk-in shower, 140cm x 78cm, 1.5cm threshold, shower seat on request
- Travel cots and high chairs available for families
We know everyone’s needs are different, and no accommodation suits every requirement. If you’d like more detail on any of the above, or want to talk through whether a particular lodge would work for you, get in touch and we’ll help however we can.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“We had a wonderful time celebrating my mum’s 86th birthday at the lodge. It’s beautiful, with lovely views and very comfortable. Mum has mobility issues, but was able to move freely in and out of the lodge, which made the trip so much easier for her. The electric car charging point was a real bonus. We’d definitely love to come back.
